Monday to Friday 9am- 5.30pm, 2 days working from home.  

Do you have teaching experience in Computing subjects at UG and PG level? Do you enjoy supporting students on a one-to-one basis, small tutorials, and in workshops where you can assist our Higher Education students with Personal & Academic Computing Skills alongside their classes? Many of our students are from overseas and often our students haven’t studied for a few years and both are examples of where your academic guidance is needed.    

You might be a recent Masters or PhD student yourself looking for an exciting opportunity to be part of our growing and expanding team.  We are student centric and very passionate about our contribution to our students future.

Your focus: You will be working within the Academic Community of Excellence (ACE) team to support learners with their academic skills development alongside their classes.
You will be delivering effective teaching, learning and support enabling learners to gain the skills they need to succeed as well as excel in their studies…… your knowledge, powering each students potential.   
Here’s a little of what you’ll be doing:
To initiate and maintain regular contact with students to establish a supportive and professional relationship.
To track, monitor and review students’ academic progress/achievement, development, and wellbeing.
To signpost students towards appropriate sources of support where necessary
To plan, prepare and deliver effective and engaging group, one-to-one and drop-in sessions (face-to-face and online) to support and develop students’ learning, academic and digital skills, and wellbeing.
To be a Personal Tutor and provide guidance, support and tutorship for student groups and individuals.
To keep accurate tutorial records to monitor learner progress and achievement
To deliver engaging and creative learning to meet the needs of the learner
To develop learning support and skills materials and resources (for face-to-face and online) and maintain them on the Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs)
To organise and promote Academic Community of Excellence (ACE) at QA events.

What We'll Do For You!

Bring your experience:

Computer Science or related degree in computing and software engineering

Experience/Knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, Python, C) (Required)

Databases (SQL and/or NOSQL) (Required)

Web Development Technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) (Required)

Web Development Frameworks e.g. Bootstrap, React (Desirable)

Data Analytics (Excel; Power BI and/or Tableau) (Required)

Knowledge of SPSS (Desirable)

Mathematical proficiency to support students at Foundation level (Required)

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (Desirable)

Computer and Network Security (desirable)

Knowledge of the issues and challenges faced by HE students.

An excellent understanding of computing skills required at university level.

Knowledge and understanding of how to adapt your approach depending on each individual.
